Rescuing a Million-Dollar Home: Carpet Cleaning Done Right

Barbara Nagy • October 8, 2024
At Chris' Carpet Service & Water Restoration, we pride ourselves on handling even the most challenging carpet cleaning jobs with care and precision. Recently, tackled carpet cleaning in Indian Rocks Beach, for a client who needed urgent help after an unfortunate incident in their million-dollar home.

A Call From a Worried Homeowner

Our client, a residential homeowner living in a stunning million-dollar home, contacted us after one of their technicians accidentally tracked dog feces from the front door, up two flights of wooden stairs, and onto an area rug on the third floor. Not only was the carpet soiled, but the mess was spread over bamboo wood flooring, making the cleanup more complicated.

Assessing the Situation

When we arrived, we immediately understood the urgency and the need for a delicate approach. Cleaning the soiled carpet wasn’t the only task at hand - we had to protect the expensive bamboo flooring underneath. Moving any equipment carelessly could have damaged the wood, so we had to plan our steps carefully.

Steps We Took to Rescue the Carpet in the Million-Dollar Home

Here’s how we successfully rescued the carpet and protected the beautiful wood flooring beneath it.

Protecting the Flooring

Our top priority was to make sure no further damage happened to the bamboo flooring while we cleaned the carpet. We carefully laid down protective sheets over the wooden stairs and floor surrounding the area rug. This added layer of protection would prevent any potential scratches from our equipment.

Stain Removal Process

To successfully clean the area rug while preserving the surrounding surfaces, we followed a precise process. Here’s how we handled the stain removal:

  1. Pre-treatment of the Stains: First, we applied a specialized enzyme cleaner to the stained area. Dog waste can leave behind bacteria and unpleasant odors. This cleaner was necessary to break down the organic matter and neutralize any smells. We allowed the solution to soak in for a few minutes to ensure a deep and thorough clean.
  2. Careful Extraction Process: After the pre-treatment, we used a lightweight, high-efficiency carpet extractor to remove the stains. Since the rug was located on the third floor, we had to move our equipment carefully up two flights of stairs. To avoid damaging the bamboo wood floor underneath, our team of six technicians worked methodically, lifting the stains without pushing excess water into the floor below.

Final Cleaning and Rinse

After the stains were removed, we gave the entire area rug a thorough cleaning. We used a low-moisture method to ensure quick drying. The key here was to avoid soaking the rug, which could potentially damage the bamboo flooring beneath it. In addition, we cleaned the wooden floor to remove any lingering residue, ensuring it looked pristine.

Drying the Carpet

Once the cleaning was complete, we used air movers to speed up the drying process. We made sure there would be no lingering moisture that could seep into the wood flooring. This step was necessary to prevent any warping or swelling of the bamboo.

Job Well Done

This project was a true testament to our team’s dedication to high-quality work. Although it took six technicians to navigate the equipment through the house and up to the third floor, we completed the job without a single scratch to the bamboo wood. The area rug was restored to its original condition, and our client was extremely satisfied with the outcome.
